San Juan del Sur sí es una localidad turística, muy turística, pero nada de hoteles grandes por lo menos en el pueblo, aunque lo que si había era mucho guiri, casi casi más que nicas.
Bueno, el caso es que decidí venirme acá el fin de semana para descansar un poco andando por la playa, comer un poco de peixe con tostones (qué ricos están, mima!) y ver el desove de tortugas paslamas en la Playa de la Flor. Los paseos y la comida muy buenos pero lo de las tortugas fue impresionante. Contraté un guía con unos alemanes y franceses y salimo
s como a las 4 de la tarde para poder ver el anochecer en la playa. La playa de la Flor está a 20 km de San Juan del Sur y para ir se necesita un vehículo potente porque hay que atravesar dos ríos y si ha llovido aguas arriba puede ser peligroso con un vehículo ligero.
Allá llegamos al centro de recepción de visitas (pues es reserva natural)donde 5 o 6 militares descansaban en sus mecedoras de madera mientras veían la novela. Ahí pagamos los 10 dólares que hay que apoquinar si quieres ir a ver las tortugas (en principio destinados a l
a conservación de la reserva ...) y nos enseñaron unas tortuguitas que habían salvado el día anterior de una muerte segura a manos de las gaviotas (o aves/pajarracos similares) o por ser abrasadas por el sol, pues salieron de sus huevos durante el día.Al llegar a la playa pudimos ver a esos enormes bichos (en el buen sentido) saliendo del mar con cara de pocos amigos y diciendote "sal de mi camino o te aplasto", aunque la verdad pasaban un poco. Andaban a su paso y al llegar a la arena seca escogían un sitio y ALA!!! a excavar un agujerito y a poner todos los huevos (los libros ponen que más de 100 por tortuga), y después otra vez al agua y hasta dentro de un año no vuelven, exactamente a la misma playa (no hay quien las entienda).
En fin, que tras ver la puesta de sol, sacar fotitos (como guiris totales) y mojar los pantalones hasta la rodilla se empezó a hacer de noche y nos dejaron soltar a las tortuguitas
que nacieron el día anterior. Así que cada guiri cogimos (bueno, tomamos) una tortuguita y las pusimos en fila. Aunque teníamos puestas muchas esperanzas en ver una auténtica carrera de tortugas (pues en el recipiente en el que estaban se movían mucho), tuvimos que acercarlas más a la orilla pues andaban a paso de tortuga (jeje). Una curiosidad, nos dijeron que si poníamos las tortugas directamente en el agua no iban a ser capaces nunca de volver a la playa, pues de pequeñas necesitan encontrar el camino para orientarse y poder volver de mayores, sino lo hacen nunca sabran volver(os imaginais ir cargadas de huevos y no encontrar la playa, yo no lo acabo de ver ...). Otra curiosidad, sabeis como cuentan el número de tortugas? Pues ahí están los del ejército, paseando todo el día por la playa y pintando con cal cada tortuga que ven. Por cierto, sólo son las hembras las que se acercan a la playa, me pregunto que hacen los machos mientras ellas desovan, tienen todo el océano a su disposición ...
